ANE is an extremely rare form of encephalitis that causes sudden inflammation and damage within the brain.

It most commonly affects children and can progress very quickly after what initially appears to be a normal viral illness.

Because the condition is so rare, many people have never heard of it until it affects someone they love.

How Can ANE Progress?

Eira’s Journey

Eira’s diagnosis brought ANE into the lives of our family in a way we could never have imagined.

What began as a common cold rapidly developed into a life-changing neurological condition, turning everyday life into a journey filled with uncertainty, strength, resilience, and hope.

Through this website, we hope not only to support her ongoing journey, but also to help raise awareness of Acute Necrotising Encephalitis and the impact it can have on children and families.

Why Raising Awareness Matters

Because ANE is so rare, awareness and understanding remain extremely limited.

Many families have never heard of Acute Necrotising Encephalitis until it suddenly changes their lives forever.
